Man that’s so disappointing to hear. BR sucks at everything, it’s so laughable

Republic is roughly the same size as One Eyed Jacks

One eyed jacks is 400 capacity and republic is 1000+

They aren’t even remotely the same size

The chimes is not using it “for more tables”

The varsity will be used as a private event venue and will be open for LSU/saints game days.

The shows I've gone to at Republic.. the last was Jeff Rosenstock.. and they closed off the entire second level, so it was pretty much the same capacity.. same for every other show I've been to there.. no way there were more than 300, 400 people there

Damn I can't believe I made it thru 4 pages and no one else knows this. They are rebuilding a Chelsea's bar downtown near Spanish moon with an outdoor area for bands. You heard it here first apparently

What does that even mean? A Chelsea’s bar?

I’m not saying it’s not true just haven’t heard anything about a new venue opening. And near spanish moon at that. Not exactly a great area to open a music venue because it’s not close to anything else and it’s in a sketchy area for crime.

All I know so far is they are using the name Chelsea's, plan on serving alcohol and have an outdoor area for music. Don't want to jinx anything but the plans for construction are already out, contractors being selected etc etc. I don't know the exact location but I was told it was near that scary old 2 story bar I used to play music at.

Wondering if Dave is building another Chelsea’s. That would be wild.

As much as it sucks that's the only thing that makes sense in Baton Rouge. Sketchy = affordable lease rates.

It’s a build out in an existing building. Should be great if they can get it done.

Manship theatre/Hartley vey room - downtown BR. awesome venue in BR. Manship has great sound and there isn’t a bad seat in the place.

This place seems severely under-utilized.
