Heading out in the AM for Mountain View AR to spend a few days enjoying the great folks of MV and spending as much time as possible playing in a few jams on "The Square". If you've ever been, you understand, if you haven't then shame on you and come on up and experience a true treasure.

Mountain View AR

Cool little town. That whole stretch on Hwy 63 starting at I-55 is pretty cool. I've driven it 10,000 times it seems like.

Mrs. HK and I stayed at a wonderful cabin near Mountain View in November. We really enjoyed this scenic town, Blanchard Caverns and the Ozark vistas. Great area.

We spent our Anniversary there in October. Loved it. We don't even play instruments. The Ozark Folk Center State Park was definitely a great surprise to us. Love that place.

Vacationed up there a lot in the past. Blanchard Springs Caverns was one of my favorite places.

Went back in 2012. Bluegrass,
Folk and Country bands playing at same time just a few feet away from one another. It was a great experience except it was a dry county. Not sure if it's still dry or not.

Went there on a family trip when i was 12 and had just started learning guitar myself. It was around the same time Nirvana had done their unplugged show on MTV. Me and a buddy who was with me were walking around listening and heard these old men in their 70s at least singing “In the Pines” it blew my young mind, had no idea it was an old standard bluegrass tune. It was awesome!

I took a visit to Mountain View some years ago.

Bluegrass was being played and an older man jumped up and began to dance.

He danced away from the town square.

Legend has it that the old man is still dancing to this day.

I've been there in the 90s. Also Blanchard Springs Caverns.
And, are any of you familiar with a little town up there called Six?

Also many days spent in Calico for me as well. Lots of family in the area.

Great place to retire. Just limited ways to make a living.
