Which four guys would you put up there. Based on their influence, success, and longevity.
I've got
Hank Williams - major influence in all forms of country and has taken status as some mythical creature
George Jones - he had a hugely succesful career that spanded nearly 7 decades and considered by many to be the best country music singer of all-time
Merle Haggard - Very successful career that help shape the tone of country music in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Also considered to be one of the greatest country music singers of all-time
Johnny Cash - Very successful career, only behind GJ in terms of songs charted. One of the pioneers of rockabilly and a major influence on artists of many genres.
ETA: this is in no particular order

I kinda feel like that too, although Willie wrote a lot of the golden standards for country music his own career didn't take off until the mid 70s.
I also thought about Waylon Jennings too, but I just couldn't justify putting either on there above the four I listed.
I would've loved to had room for Ernestt Tubb and Buck Owens too, but there were only 4 spots.

I think you are correct. MAYBE sway Jones for Jennings, but I like it how it is.

IMO Jones should be locked on there. Jones has the most charted songs of any country music singer ever and is widely considered the greatest country music singer of all time. He literally had hit songs on the charts from the 50s til 2000. That's pretty fricking crazy.
