I mentioned The Cars because I don't think that they get nearly enough credit for being years ahead of New Wave, as far as their sound goes.

I understand what ur saying but I would have considered them more Pop than New Wave. Ric Ocasek was a household name in early 80’s and they dominated for a good 8 years. Incredible run. I appreciate their music now more that then.
That would be a good thread. Whose music do u appreciate now but not when they were top of the charts? for me; The Cars, Hall & Oats & Rush.
