Depends on what type of uncool. If it's the type of uncool that probably got bullied in school, didn't fit in anywhere-yet turned their awkwardness into awesomeness then I'd say David Byrne.

It's just ignorant people that don't know Wayne's story. Guy grew up poor as hell in Oklahoma City with nothing and created an artistic movement out of nothing. He was one of the leaders pushing the indie scene in the 90s along with beck, radio head, the blur, etc. The guy is extremely humble and friendly to anyone that approaches him.
