They were a machine. This is them in their prime. The Seattle 1989 Live Sh*t Binge & Purge is hands down the greatest live performance caught on film ever. Yes, I am serious. Watch it. They really were that good.

I always loved the video from their concert in Moscow 1991. Doesn't get more metal than Metallica playing to 500k people (who shared their music underground illegally in a communist country) with soldiers forming a barricade around the stage and military helicopters flying low around the crowd.

You are correct sir. Good catch. I happened to run into him in the San Francisco airport about 6 years ago. Nobody had a clue who he was. I got a pic with him & he could not have been a nicer guy.

The great thing about Metallica is that they record a lot of their shows, including the Cajundome show from 1997. This may not be as good as the Seattle show, but it has more meaning to me since I was there.

Cajundome 1997. Thanks for this! I was at this show & the show at the Pyramid in Memphis on this tour as well as Lollapalooza in New Orleans. Despite their music in the 90's being nothing like the 80's majesty that they put out, they were still one of the best live acts going & still are.

frick yeah!! I was at that same show. Drove over from Baton Rouge with my two best friends. August 20th, 89. fricking incredible show!
In fact, I saw them at Mile High last summer to mark the fourth consecutive decade in which I’ve seen them and that Biloxi show is hands down my favorite of them all.

If I never heard that song again it'd be too soon. Wish they'd do a tour where they promised not to play it.
