At their peak (1969 - 1973) they were the best rock band out there.
Tommy
Live at Leeds (extended version has a better version of Tommy)
Who's Next
Quadrophenia
Entwistle and Moon were in synch and on fire; and Daltry and Townshend were top tier as well. Around 1975 Moon's alcohol and drug use took a toll and they were never the same.

If you put on a pair of headphones and listen to "The Real Me", you will realize that you are listening to the single greatest combination of rock drumming and rock bass playing in one song ever recorded. I' m serious...try it.

As great as they were that band still seems sort of under-rated in the grand scheme of rock n roll history
I completely agree.

Saw them in Houston in 2000 with Entwistle. Probably my favorite concert ever. They rocked.

until then, this will have to do - from the performance captured in The Kids Are Alright:

Daltrey said Entwistle was the Jimi Hendrix of the bass guitar.

It’s a masterpiece. It’s in my top 5 greatest rock songs of all time. It perfectly captured the anti establishment anger and rage prevalent at the time.

I always wished I could let out a yell like that!!
I saw the Who in '82 at the Astrodome, which was one of my first rock concerts, and again in '89, the year they were doing Tommy, at the Astrodome, with the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
One of my all time favorite for sure.

I completely agree with all of the positive comments about the who in this thread, at their peak they were one of one
which makes the recent/current situation with pete and Roger continuing on as “the who” so much more pathetic. they can’t possibly need the money so I don’t understand the need to do what they are doing (which is objectively terrible…)
