I’m a honky tonk man. Haggard is my favorite, Waylon is #2. I’ll take Jones at 3, and the winner loses on.

Bobby Bare has a great voice and some great lyrics. Marie Laveau, Numbers, 500 Miles, Ride Me Down Easy, Detroit City, Miller’s Cave, The Winner...

I heard this one on the radio today. I hadn’t heard it in forever. Some of the most simple, yet brilliant songwriting ever.

Waylon is #1 for me, but that aside, I have always really liked Bobby Bare. He is very underrated. Tequila Sheila is a great song

The live version is what country music is all about. I've never heard a more joyful crowd just having fun.

Me too. Just about any Bobby Bare song makes me think of my old man and his buddies down at the bar.

That song is by Bill Parsons, it just sounds like Bobby Bare. Anyway, it's terrible and shouldn't be uttered in the same breath as Tequila Shelia, Detroit City and Dropkick Me Jesus (Through The Goalposts Of Life).

Are you being (as your hero Rush Limbaugh would say) obtuse?

Come Sundown and Detroit City are the shite.
He was a good simple songwriter, but sang a lot of others' songs too.
Mel Tillis wrote Detroit.

He sang a good version of "Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother."

I used to play the hell out of this LP as a kid:
