Keith Moon & John Entwistle vs. John Bonham & John Paul Jones

I'll probably concede this, although it is close. Clearly he's a better bass player than Jones (and, to be fair, Jones' is the finest musician of the four - can play anything that makes noise - and can play 2 instruments at the same time). But, Bonham is one of the most talented and complete drummers in history. He wasn't particularly fancy on the fills, but as a frustrated former drummer myself, his ability across the spectrum is seldom approached - there are solid drummers and there are innovative drummers - but they are rarely in the same skin.

Moon is a different discussion entirely - not a true "drummer" - at least not in a rock/pop/jazz sense - he was far more of a keyboard player who used drums instead - certainly for what he provided to the mix.

Which brings us full circle to Entwistle - not only did he have to supply the bass groove - he was primarily responsible for keeping time, as well, as his "drummer" was a lunatic who did everything except keep time on the kit.

(Two wonderful rhythm sections, no doubt, two of the very best of all time.)

Bonham > Moon by a very, very thin margin. Two pretty different drumming styles, though. Both were a huge part of the development of my musical tastes.

Entwistle > John Paul Jones by a pretty large margin IMHO. Jones was fairly versatile though.
