BilJ’s LSU Basketball pregame playlist still goes hard on the Journey.

I agree. I refer to them as Pussy Journey now. They started sucking as sone as Gregg Rolie left.

Yep, Cain put cash in their pockets, but they sold their souls in the process. Greg R was great organ player AND vocalist

I agree with this!

Same thing happened to Styx.

When Greg Rollie took his Hammond B3 and departed the band their ability to “rock” some went with him.

Journey, prior to Perry, was very good, I thought.

Well they were an incredible spin-off band of Santana.

They were a spin-off of Carlos Santana's band and were very good back in the day, as was REO Speedwagon. I guess FM hits and power ballads were more lucrative for both.

I always thought this was Tommy Shaw. DDeY was an original member of the band.

For Journey, Styx, and REO Speedwagon, there was always a bit of creative tension between the keyboard player and the guitar player. The power ballad became more common and wooed more fans.

Tommy Shaw is talented. The guy that plays keyboard now is pretty good. To me, Shaw and JY are glue to Styx. DeYoung ‘s music was different. He thought he should be the focal point. I enjoy Shaw’s singing and playing. Shaw was more rock, where DeYoung I am not sure. I am going to see Styx in Denver in June. 3rd time in 5 years. Really enjoy the performance.
