If you watched the VH1 "Behind the Music" episode with Styx, they explain the creative clash between Shaw/Young and Dennis DeYoung. Shaw and JY wanted to stay true to their harder rock roots, while DeYoung wanted to do more theatricaland concept type albums. It caused huge problems.
