Went to see Toto last night in Long Beach. My buddy knows the young keyboard player in Toto (Dennis's first gig as a kid was in my buddy's band). So we got great seats and got to hang out backstage. Saw Paich (he only came out to sing Africa), hung out with Dennis and got to meet Luke. He is exactly as you see him in interviews.
Dude is amazing.

I could be wrong but I don’t think he played on Edge of Seventeen. I think that's Waddy Wachtel.
You are correct. Waddy has been Nicks's guitarist for decades. Just don't look up his "legal problems".

David Paich the pianist for Toto father Marty Paich was one of the greatest arrangers ever.
The Paich and Porcaro family are both established L.A. Musicians. Marty was a fantastic composer, arranger etc and Joe Porcaro (dad of Jeff, Mike and Steve) was an amazing jazz/session drummer.
Even with the singer Joe Williams, his dad is kinda famous. You may have heard of John Williams... yes, THE John Williams.
Luke is kind of the only one of the L.A. guys who wasn't a second generation musician. His dad worked on TV Shows as a assistant director

Just professional musicians all around. Bobby Kimball from Vinton is one of my all time favorite singers and he was responsible for a lot of the way they sounded.
Their early stuff rocked.
Luke was like 19 when they recorded their first album.

They started appeasing thr boomer casino circuit a while ago.
What does this have to do with their work in their prime?
Would they have been better off dying of drug overdoses in the 80s, and be forever young? One member did die early of suspected drug use.

Yea, he's a scumbag.

Lukather was a bit mad at his neighbor for using his leaf blower early in the morning.

Lukather suffers from the fact that he gets pigeoholed as a "session" musician and Toto a studio band.
