Is Ghost (Tobias) the best band in modern rock?

Ghost is good and a nice current flavor, but their sound is overall not versatile/varied enough. I love his/their success and hope it continues - good for rock/metal.

I think Ghost sucks

Since BMTH released Amo recently, I would give the nod to Ghost. I’m slightly biased though because Ghost puts on one of the best live shows I’ve seen. I’m not big on the beginning of Prequelle, but everything from “See the Light” on I can listen to any time. Pre Amo though, Sempiternal and That’s The Spirit are a hell of a combo.

I don’t listen to much alt rock though. Those two are by far the biggest newer bands in hard rock for a reason.

Uh yeah I'm serious.

But this clearly points to a genre-defining issue if nobody is at least considering taking me seriously which is a huge issue with rock/metal. Nobody can decide who/what goes where. and how much sub-genres even matter. If you look at the ingredients for a good band it's talent in vocals and instruments, songwriting, and listenability and AB have them all in a pretty radio-friendly package. It's okay if you don't like them personally. Avenged Sevenfold is pretty up there too in that category. Mastodon is a good list as well. I guess I just don't know what we're calling modern rock here....
