GaryGator linked it in the big Stoner Metal, etc. thread but I feel like it deserves it’s own thread as well so perhaps some CCR fans might hear it too.

It came in as recommended to me a short time ago on youtube. Perfect because Clutch is one of my favorite bands and Fortunate Son is my absolute favorite CCR song. I grabbed my headphones because I knew it would be spectacular. Was particularly looking forward to Neil singing and he did not disappoint, but the whole thing rocks.

This cover truly delivers.

I don't worship CCR the way a lot of people do, but Clutch is the nipple on the titty. Neil has a MONSTROUS voice.

Also, that Rickenbacker bass into that old Ampeg Fliptop is pure sex

Great description. It’s powerful as hell, and is always perfect live. He can belt it out for sure.

Sounds like Coach O with a wedgie trying to sing. Not my cup o' tea.

Probably one of the odder shows I've been to was Devin Townsend opening for Clutch. They don't really go together. I went for Devin, didn't know Clutch at the time. Became a fan based on the strength of that show.

Me and my co-workers were listening to pandora the other day working on a project and a lot of CCR was being played.

Those guys are from the S.F. Bay area, we looked it up.

I've seen Clutch 6 times live. They are still one of, if not the best live band I've ever seen.

And I've seen alot of bands live.

That's a great cover. Never been a huge Clutch fan, but the guy does have a killer voice. Saw them a long long time ago at 5 Points Music Hall when they existed. Spacegrass live was killer.

Man this is absurd. Did you actually listen or did you just dust off a canned generic response geared toward Death Metal vocals? Because that’s not what this is. It is not the least bit applicable.

Their music was/is awesome. I don’t care where they come from.

I listened to Fortunate Son. I don't like his voice. at all...….. He has a hell of a career ahead of him yelling at 16 year old boys on a football field, and he already has the coach beard/hairline as well. Sue me for fricks sake.

I didn’t completely hate it. This is just one of those songs that I can’t imagine myself liking any cover that anyone could do.

This is the first cover I've heard by Clutch. Great choice for them to cover.

I've haven't really been into their stuff as of late, but I've liked some stand out tracks. I always end up going back to my favorites - Elephant Riders, Blast Tyrant, and Robot Hive / Exodus.

Condoleezza Rice is nice
But I prefer 'a-roni

I liked it for the most part, the vocal especially. Bass player should have done a whole lot more IMO.

I have as well and man I agree. Love them live. Always just so tight. I’ve seen ‘em four times and last February at the Varsity is my favorite of the four.

Where was this? Asking because there’s a 5 Points area here in Jax that once had a live venue. It was called Club 5 though. I’ve heard they played there long ago as an opener, maybe for Limp Bizkit?

Oh I’m sure it was. Still haven’t been lucky enough yet to see them play it.
