Sorry if discussed to death. I’m a newbie.

I can’t figure out if I love it or hate it. I guess I am still digesting it.

Put it this way......it’s not worth 13 years of waiting. JMO

That being said, every time I listen to it it’s getting better. It might be one of those albums that gets better as time goes on.?

It was probably discussed here more than all other 2019 releases combined. Here is the main thread if you are interested.

nope. while it's not bad, it sounds like a rehash of previous stuff with even many of the same riffs. they made the sound more expansive in a way, but overall it was forgettable to me.

I still retain my favorite album is Lateralus, but this might be their second best, it's hard to top AEnima though.

I love Fear Innoculum, I think it's a masterpiece, I love the dynamic range of sounds, it's mastered really well

I've seen Tool half a dozen times, A Perfect Circle twice and Puscifer once. I have not purchased or listened to the new Tool album.

it's good but can you just give me one song of a 4 minute gut punch like on the early albums.

Very good album but there's some recycled riffs in there.

Pneuma
Invincible
Decending

Those four right there are great tracks

Can't disagree. Those 4 are insanely good. It can't touch Lateralus as a whole...but it has some AMAZING tracks.

It’s kind of a weird one for me. I didn’t love it like I thought I’d love new tool music after so long. I guess I expected Lateralus 2.0 but it’s not that. My ultimate complaint is Maynard’s lack of anger in it. I still think it’s their second best and still better than anything else out there being put out.

Having said that, I listen to it on almost ever run for the last 6 months and I just never get tired of the songs. Never.

Fear Inoculum

That's just the hook and kinda prophetic.

Yeah it's not that new wtf is this tool music, but it's pretty great.

Fantastic Album. I’ve listened to it countless times since it came out.

The biggest common criticism is “ I don’t like the new tool album because it sounds exactly like a tool album.”

That makes absolutely no sense.

Agreed. These are going to be in my rotation for a very long time, along with Fear Inoculum the song itself.

I love Tool but the new album was just ok for a Tool album. It's their weakest full length studio album IMO. It's still a good album compared to most of the crap that comes out these days and better than most new rock band's "best" albums. Just not as good as I hoped from Tool after 13 years of working on it. Like others have mentioned, there are some solid, classic Tool songs on the album, just not as impressive as a whole as their other albums.

Im happy to have a new album. I honestly haven’t listened to it once in 2020. I can’t tell if they changed or if it is just me.
