Eli Young is getting douchey too. How they ever got lumped in with Texas country is beyond me (sound wise).

Eli Young cut their teeth in the Texas scene but went straight to shite once Nashville grabbed them...they are like the Simple Plan of Texas and country

You have seen 1994 by Jason Aldean half the people that listen to his music.. Don't know who Joe Diffie is!!

FWIW, they all have a big song bank to choose from. Basically no one has songs written for them, and zero write their own music
They pick something their audience wants to hear and go with it. Sort of like a jukebox

Yeah you're wrong about that. Some artists are just artists, like Jason Aldean and Tim McGraw. But bands like Eli Young Band and Florida Georgia Line actually write most of their stuff. Eli Young Band members wrote 8/14 of the tracks on their record Life at Best and Florida Georgia Line wrote 6/11 on theirs.
Of course they probably had help from other people, but its not like they just go in there and sing.

The thing for me about the new country singers is that it is a love/hate relationship for me...
For example, I would see Jason Aldean just to hear him sing Amarillo Sky but would take a bathroom break if he even started into 1994 crap

If you thought I meant Red Dirt/TX country, you thought wrong.
I was talking about anything you ever see on CMT or GMT, or hear on the radio. Writing half of your own songs isn't too impressive FWIW

I'm interested to know how much Joe Diffie album sales have spiked since this crappy song. As someone who loves 90s Country, I think Diffie making money off of 1994 is the only good thing to come out if it.

If we judged artist simply for writing their own music then wouldn't that make Taylor Swift a better artist than George Strait.
I hate the new crap and love George Strait, I'm just playing devil's advocate.

Great point. I can't throw out an entire artist because they recorded something that I don't like AND also happens to be commercially successful.
