It's not that Creed was bad, it was just overplayed on the radio to the point of hatred at a time before streaming really took off.
That, and Scott Stapp was a massive prick that everyone hated.

y'all leave Scott alone. He's chilled out and Jacqueline and her mom keep him grounded with Dad duties taking his daughter to school and going to Friday night football games. Everyone evolves. He even let my daughter sing on his Christmas recording a couple years ago. eta from the award show

Creed are awesome
Those are unbelievable songs.
They burned REALLY bright - kind of like CCR. They sold an unbelievable amount of records in 4 years (I think more than 40 million).
It became fashionable to hate them, as some have said, at least partially related to dislike of Stapp. As far as I can tell, Roger Waters is about the biggest prick around, yet people still cream their pants over Pink Floyd.
My alltime favorite was some kind of sex tape came out that showed Kid Rock, Stapp and a bunch of chicks in some concert trailer. Kid Rock stated he was embarassed about it the tape because it made him look like there was a slight chance he didn't despise Stapp.

I really dislike their music and I know nothing about Stapp... I also couldn't care less if people like them and they keep selling millions of records (are they still a band?)... good for everyone.. it impacts me in no way!
