How would you rate Tipitina's as a venue?

I'm going next month to see one of my favorite bands in Minus the Bear.
Was wondering how the music board feels about the atmosphere.
TIA.

its one of the iconic venues in the world IMO. What cities the size of NOLA have venues in a residential neighborhood?

It kicks arse. I wish they drew more out of town acts along the lines of Minus the Bear, but they've been improving on that as of late. The front bar sucks btw

Only been once but it was alright. I'll be going back in a few weeks.
Can you still park at the Winn Dixie or whatever across the street? I'm not too familiar with that part of town.

One of the better venues to see an act in NOLA. Went there for Keller Williams a little while back and had a great time. Plan on seeing Dr. John when he plays later this year.

pretty "cozy"... haven't been in many years. Saw Joan Jett there in 88. No A/C at the time dunno if that's changed. It was August and i left looking like I had been swimming.

Anybody remember seeing shows in the summer there, during the 90s... pre-AC... motherfricker that place was hot!!!

I liked it much better before they installed A/C.
Still an iconic venue, but the greasy, sweaty, hang-out-of-the-second-floor-windows-for-a-wisp-of-fresh-air funkiness is no more.

Of course!
Specifically, the reunited Meters with Russel Batiste on drums in '90 and '91.
Sweaty, funky,...perfect.

gross... but then again, maybe it goes perfectly fine for funk!

That had to have been epic. Haven't been to Tips in a really long time. Last show was the Radiators decades ago. It was hot, sweaty, funky and New Orleans to the core.
