This is the only one I ever heard. It's barely older than I am. I know I'm an old fart.

That sounds like every other late 70’s, early 80’s Ronnie Millsap cat shite song. Hardly disco.

I feel like Exile's "I Want to Kiss You All Over" qualifies.

Uhh.....Exile is a country band so...not sure what you're looking for here guy. Its a country band playing a poppy discoish tune. Which is what the OP asked for. Any other brain busters?

Wikipedia:
quote:

Exile is an American band originally formed in 1963. In the 1970s, they were known as a rock band that had a major hit single with "Kiss You All Over" in 1978. After several lineup changes, the band was re-launched as a country act that achieved additional success in the 1980s and '90s.
"KYAO" is not a country song, and they were not a country act when they did it

The song is completely Pop/Top 40.

When I get home, babe, gonna light your fire
All day I've been thinkin' about you, babe
You're my one desire
… Gonna wrap my arms around you
And hold you close to me
Oh, babe I want to taste your lips
I want to fill your fantasy, yeah
… I don't what I'd do without you, babe
Don't know where I'd be
You're not just another lover
No, you're everything to me
… Everytime I'm with you, baby
I can't believe it's true
When you're layin' in my arms
and you do the things you do
… You can see it in my eyes
I can feel it in your touch
You don't have to say a thing
Just let me show how much
I love you, need you, oh babe
… I want to kiss you all over
And over again
I want to kiss you all over
'Til the night closes in
'Til the night closes in
… No one else can ever make me
Feel the way you do
Oh, so keep on loving me baby
And I'll keep loving you
It's easy to see
When something's right or something's wrong
So stay with me baby and hold me all night long
… Show me, show me everything you do
'Cause baby no one does it quite like you
I love you, need you, oh babe
… I wanna kiss you all over
And over again
I wanna kiss you all over
'Til the night closes in
'Til the night closes in
… Stay with me, lay with me
Holding me, loving me, baby
Here with me, near with me
Feeling you close to me, baby

Main stream country was in a similar condition to the present, but back then, it was hard to find alternatives to what was on the radio.

Lead singer appears to be a pole smoker. Video of song in question

When Exile first came out, they were definitely marketed more as a pop act. I saw them several times when they opened for acts like .38 special, Doobie Brothers and those type acts. They were played on top 40 type radio.
They started marketing them more as country after the Alabama band got so big. They really didn't have to change what they played much.

Where it’s at - Beck?

It has country line dancing, plus,

two turntables and a microphone.

Why yes, I was alive in the late 70s.

This is way closer to disco country.

Dr. Hook

The hihats are more disco, the background vocals are doing more disco influenced responses, and there are disco horns and strings.

This one is even closer. The hats are doing a disco pattern, the kick is most often four on the floor. The strings are definitely doing disco licks. It is squarer than most disco, but it's clear this was influenced by disco.

Bill Anderson

And this is a country artist straight up doing a disco song.

Connie Smith
