Yeah I don't need this band in my life. Nothing about it excites me because I've heard it already growing up listening to Zep.

Maybe they could start a supergroup with the Filipino Journey dude.

You can not believe it but that's his real voice. I've seen the dude live and he isn't forcing anything

Many of us have seen them live. He doesn’t suck. His voice naturally does have a lot in common. He also, seemingly intentionally, does a lot to mimic.

That takes skill but also results in me losing interest more quickly

He lacks any stage presence live. I just don’t like that type of voice personally just like I can’t stand Plants. They were okay live - pretty boring and monotonous after a few songs.

I’m really liking their new album. And they have a couple of songs I love. Incredibly talented group that needs to grow a bit before they take that next step. Right now they use the vocal play as a crutch because they don’t have much of a setlist.

Holy cow. Pitchfork is an overwrought pretentious music site whose reviews are often ridiculous... but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen them give that low of a score on a review.

I have no problem with them at all. Do they sound a bit like Led Zeppelin, of course. But they aren't Led Zeppelin. They're doing their thing at a time when rock & roll is near death.....good for them.

I think I got cancer reading that review. It's literally nothing but him bitching that they sound like 70's rock

I mean, is sounding like 70's rock supposed to be a bad thing? 70's rock is awesome. I would much rather listen to 70's rock than "You sticky pickle, you sticky pickle"

I don't give a shite what they look like, but the fact of the matter stands that they are one of only a handful of bands in the mainstream market that make anything remotely sounding like rock and roll these days. On top of that they are very talented. Everyone knows they sound like Zep. Doesn't make them suck. It means they have a heavy Zep influence and happen to have a singer that has a very similar voice. Their similarities to LZ are part of their charm IMO. I'll take it. Fun music. Talented guys playing real instruments.

Foo Fighters
Queens of the Stone Age
Greta Van Fleet
Clutch

that is a pretty short list of main stream bands that make real rock with no frills. Guys playing guitars and drums, screaming vocals. Rock. It is ok if you don't like it.

I would replace GVF for sure with Karnivool. They never play in the states though

you say you read the interview, and i'll take your word for it and just ask, is that really, seriously what you got from reading that interview? nothing but bitching that GVF sounds like 70s rock?

you may as well not have read it IMO

We have discussed them ad nauseum. Personally, I like them. They’re a real breath of fresh air on alt radio. It actually sounds like rock music. Which is admittedly a low bar, but sadly, FM radio seems determined to starve us of anything that remotely feels like rock. Even a cheap Zeppelin imitation is better than the overproduced computer band crap that passes for “alt rock” these days.

Exactly. Ya'll can enjoy your Imagine Dragons. I'll take some real talent.

I'm conflicted because the review is hilarious but it's based on a lack of self awareness...

Pitchfork...lack of self awareness...

That pitchfork review is savage

Reads like some of the stuff critics said about HOF acts from the 70s like Led Zeppelin
