Phish does this every night. They just play their most popular song, Mindless Noodling, on repeat.

The only time I've witnessed this in person was during a taping of VH1 Storytellers. They warned everyone before hand that it could happen, but it was only two or three of them.

Brace for Impact (Live a Little). He opened the show with that.

Then did a mixture of his 1st album, metamodern, and a cover of Don’t Miss Your Water thrown in

Then played A sailors guide in order, so Brace for Impact was played again.

Unless it is a segue, it’s hard to believe a band would actually do this.

Although I wouldn’t put it past Sturgill because he’s one of the biggest posers in the music industry right now.

Devin Townsend did it at a show while recording a live cd/dvd because he flubbed on the beginning of one of the songs. He didn't want to ruin the product, but he ended up putting both versions on it and it's actually one of my favorite moments on the set.

Take 2!

In fairness to him, they played 4 entirely different sets on 4 straight nights and this is the only repeat across the shows (5.6 hours).

Took my Mom to see Paul Simon on the "Graceland" tour. They played "You Can Call me Al" twice; back to back.

Yep I was there in Lafayette. Crowd was seated and subdued until he played that song. Crowd jumped to its feet on first few notes and danced wildly through the song. When song ended Paul Simon said “Wow! Let’s do it again!”
Crowd went wild again.

Last time I saw The Shins, they played Simple Song in the middle of their set and then again as their "encore". Kinda weird because they didn't play like 8 of the songs I wanted to hear.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I think Portugal the Man played the single they had just released that day or something twice when I saw them.

ETA: It was the added on song to the encore the second time they played it I think.

He played it at least twice years ago when I saw him. I want to say he played it 3 times. There were a lot of drunks in the crowd that kept screaming for it.

A girl dragged me to an Eve 6 concert in the late 90's and they played their one popular song twice. I forget teh name of the song. I was embarrassed for them as the 2nd time they played it was clearly because they were losing the crowd.
