Hard Rock Ballads

I'm trying to put together a playlist of hard rock ballads. In the vein of "Fall to Pieces" by Velvet Revolver or maybe even "Nothing Else Matters." Not hair metal "high school dance stuff" though.
Good solo work and vocals with a slow build, big finish rhythm. Any suggestions would be outstanding.

So not ashamed. Ocean Avenue is still one of my favorite albums. No one would mistake it for being cool, badass, or high art, but it's just so...fun. I can't explain it, but it's more than just nostalgia.
