Freebird

Probably not the greatest but it’s my favorite. Lynyrd Skynyrd performing Freebird in Oakland.

crossroads 61 & 49.

Not the real crossroads it’s just a tourist marker. The 2 most likely locations is hwy 1 and 8 in Rosedale or Dockery Plantation

Personally, Led Zeppelin at the PMAC in April 1977
Tickets went on sale in January
It snowed while we were in line for tickets
They opened up with Trampled Underfoot
Did a lot of Physical Graffiti and Presence (Achilles last stand was mind blowing)
First time I’d ever seen a laser light show and Ive never seen another one like it.

The correct answer is, the Beatles on Sullivan.

absolutely the correct answer
a corollary and equally correct answer is the Beatles 1966 US tour, which invented large-scale stadium live shows and opened the door for musicians to make big money playing live (and thus changed the record company/artist business model)

just to put that in perspective, at their last show in SF the Beatles played eleven songs and made over $50,000 dollars. You bet your arse a whole generation of wannabe musicians ran out and got a guitar

1985 PMRC Hearings.

Frank Zappa, John Denver, and Dee Snider saved music.

If it wasn't for those three, a lot of music and most rap would be banned today.

Dee Snider owned Tipper Gore and her minions.

One of the greatest moments in music history!

It was without question B.B. King opening for Miles Davis at the Beacon Theater. I know because I was there.

Also, runner up is when Johnny Hartman and Coltrane made the greatest album of all time.

Been awhile since I've watched that. You just inspired me to watch it again, and it's still as great as I remember.

When Paul McCartney and John Lennon first met.

What about when they added George Harrison? What about when they replaced Pete Best with Ringo Starr?

Maybe the best answer is when they hired Brian Epstein as their manager.

Which not only was the first of the mega-benefit concerts, but demonstrated the hoops you had to jump through when it comes to free money, no matter how good the intent. And while not as prominent as the collective effect of music and 60's protest movements it was a singular event/moment.
