Greatest John Prime song ever?
Personally, I'm torn between Lake Marie and Paradise.
Btw, he's an an American treasure.

Gotta be “Sam Stone”... Heard it a hundred times and still get goosebumps when he sings “there’s a hole in daddy’s arm where all the money goes”.

Honorable mention- Christmas in Prison

Souvenirs too.

"Broken hearts and dirty windows make life difficult to see. Thats why last night and this morning always look the same to me."

Great line.

That’s the way the world goes round.

Not his best but a great line in it.

“Naked as the eyes of a clown..”

Just a great line tossed into a somewhat silly upbeat song. Or at least the delivery of the song is silly and upbeat. Starts out about spousal abuse. But cheerful as hell.

Fantastic.

If I must choose a best ever, I am going with Souvenirs. The version where Goodman sings the first verse.

“Sweet revenge” then “Please Don’t Bury Me”

His Great Days anthology was LaTech soundtrack for me.
