Big muff will likely be my next pedal purchase. A friend of mine has an older full sized one that he said he’d sell me when he finally invests in one of those newer smaller ones that will free up room on his board.

That's the only thing I don't like about the Big Muff. It sounds fantastic but takes up so much real estate.

I have no shortage of real estate on my absurdly large board.

Dont get a new big muff, get a clone of one from your favorite sound/era of muff. My favorite and the centerpiece of my pedalboard is the violet rams head from the early 70s, clone (David Gilmour anyone??) Mine is from TYM guitars in Austrailia which are pretty damn hard to get a hold of but Stomp Under Foot makes a great one that J Mascis used for a while.

Tym's Muff (SFW!)

I thought when I finally got a Martin D-28 I would be satisfied.

Nope.

I still long for more guitars.

Yes, went through this about 6 years ago after a big fantasy football season. Won well over 4K.

Won't do it again simply bc I don't need to. Own too many now.

Can only play one at a time....

Clearly you need more pedals.

If any of you ever get interested in guns, you'll see this syndrome play out all over again.

I have had both at the same time, for years now, with old cars and trucks thrown in there too. I think I almost have the car thing beat though, except for a super low mileage Mustang that I have my eye on. After that, I'll be OK I think.

My next guitar will either be a telecaster with a tremolo or a 12 string.

Building a telly with a bigsby tremolo out of parts right now. It's mostly classic vibe parts, but I really like the necks on them, and the pickups have a real retro sound that I like.

I have another classic vibe telly, that I'm going to make a nut for and string it up with the high strings out of a 12 string set, just to see how it might sound. Hoping that using the right effects, I can get a sound somewhere between a guitar and a mandolin, but electric. Maybe a stereo chorus?
You can get a pretty good guitar using the classic vibe parts, without spending much money. Ideal for trying crazy stuff on.

Yes, I've been addicted to buying guitars, amps and equipment for about 3 years. I resell some and keep some. My next guitar is going to be a PRS Dave's guitar in the next week or 2. Bought and built a pedalboard 2 years ago controlled by a Boss ES-8. Bought a mesa rectifier and mesa 2x12 cab, Fender Hot Rod deluxe, headrush pedalboard, Boss Katana 100 and Boss Katana Artist. Love the katanas for home use. Also started playing acoustic gigs a few years back and bought a JBL EON one array PA. Super portable, I love that thing.

My problem is that once I played a $1500 guitar, I had to buy one that quality. Then I played a $3500 guitar and had to upgrade again.

ETA: I need to stop playing nice guitars that I don't own.

I own a lot of guitars, but my most valuable ones, probably aren't worth more than 1500 bucks. I like the ones that I'm not afraid to make some changes on, or ding up a little bit. I just write and record demos and don't actually gig much. I can't imagine spending more than a couple thousand on a guitar. I wouldn't want to take it anywhere.

I’ve never played a guitar worth more than $1200.
I’ve never purchased a guitar worth more than $500.

I just don’t find a huge load of difference in the sound between mid-tier instruments ($500-$1200) and more expensive guitars. Once I modded out my $350 LP knockoff with a couple hundred worth of improvements (new bridge pickup and locking tuners), I just don’t hear $2000 worth of better sound coming out of a top line Gibson. It feels like the amp and pedals make a much bigger difference.

I meant I’ve never performed or recorded with an expensive guitar.

What has put the brakes on this for me is when I inherited a high dollar vintage guitar. It's a type that I already had (Fender Stratocaster) and I prefer the '09 guitar I had. Everybody who plays the '63 loves it but I can't warm up to it. So all I think about is what I could trade that one for... which I can't do because it would be an insult to the relative who gave it to me.

Weird dilemma. But it sure has shot my GAS tendency down in flames.

Just got a Slime Bumblebee Razorback two weeks ago, then bought a Jackson RRT this week, my wife isn’t going to be happy about buying another so quickly, but I can’t pass up deals
