The Babys loved them some female backup singers! One of the most underrated groups of the late 70s, early 80s.

Steely Dan. “My old school “ and lots of others. They really used a lot of female back up singers probably because Fagens voice was not that strong.

I was listening to the Billy Joel channel on Sirius this morning and he had a segment on R&B artists. He played a couple of Ray Charles songs that fit this topic.
Ray Charles was before my time but I got to see him at the Houston Rodeo a couple of years before he passed. He had such a great energy and was still performing well. I need to dig into more of his stuff before I forget.

Nobody Answers (When I Call Your Name) - Vince Gill w/ Patty Loveless
Any song with Patty singing harmony is badass.

Nobody Answers (When I Call Your Name) - Vince Gill w/ Patty Loveless Live version
She was remarkable in her heyday
A lady from Nashville named Dawn Sears did a lot of backup for Vince Gill after Loveless got sick. She ALMOST made it. But she had a voice that could etch glass.
