I went to a concert that was Dream Theater, ELP and Deep Purple. All three were excellent but ELP was the best of the night.

Dang! Flashback from the past. I was a junior in high school when that came out and was on my set list when I was out doing solo gigs in bars into my late 20s.

Thanks for the reminder

Having played guitar for some 44 years or so, I really enjoyed Greg Lake talking about the Gibson J 200! I would sell my my left leg to own one of those!

And Benny the Bouncer is always fun.

I like everything they did - Pictures at an Exhibition included.

Saw them at Warehouse in early 70s.

And for the other old guys here, called Clyde Clifford at KAAY one evening and talked about ELP>

I saw a few shows there and at the Municipal Auditorium that unfortunately due to what could be called a "chemical loss of consciousness" I cant remember

Inspiration for TSO.

I've got all of their pre-works albums. Major egos but great musicians.

Welcome Back My Friends is a great album. They were all about playing live. Case can be made Lake ruined his voice between touring so much and smoking.

As long as Lake handled production, they were great. In fact, Lake produced 7 platinums if you include ICOKC. Works was the beginning of the end but it was a great run.

Much respect. Too noodling for my taste.

I was in a High School garage band that played Lucky Man. My friend lent me his old Korg that looked like something pulled out of a 50’s era Soviet sub.

Step 1: Dial up square wave
Step 2: Add cutoff and portamento
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit

Except we didn’t make any money, but some of our gigs were straight out of a Terrantino flick, and I swear that lead got me laid a couple times. It damn sure wasn’t my game.

I hate it when Keith ditches the Moog and starts using a different keyboard. TOTALLY changed the sound and it lost alot of its distinctive flavor.
