I referenced a satirical blog on that in this thread, but I think I actually agree. Is this an outlandish opinion?

It's kind of like comparing Darius Rucker's version of Wagon Wheel to Old Crow Medicine Show's version.
The remake is slicker, and some people like that. For me, in most cases, I like the original, with all the rough edges.

It’s a great version. The Dixie Chicks, especially Natalie’s vocals, are really underrated by lots of folks. Especially her backup harmonies with Charlie Robison, Pat Green and the early TX country folks. She’s a worthless fat pig now, but in her prime was fantastic. Probably should go in the wasted talent thread...

I won't say it's better, but it was really well done.

I honestly think TDC were at their best when they were in their bluegrass/pseudo-bluegrass mode - Landslide, Long Time Gone, Cowboy Take Me Away.

I generally prefer the version by the artist who actually wrote it.

Darius didn’t even know the song existed until 5 years after every bar band had run it into the ground.

Old Crow does it the best. I really never liked the song but when I see them play it live I enjoy it.
