To me the man is a god of vocalist. He can go from Soul to pop. Has a range and at 70 plus can still get it.

ETA:
Sarah Smile and Rich Girl are just must haves in your catalog. I think Big Bam Boom and H20 were some of first cassettes I bought for a penny

His work onhis own Sacred Songs album Fripp's Exposure album puts him in the elite league for me.

Saw them live a few years back, Tears for Fears opened and they sounded amazing, and Daryl sings with so much soul. I was amazed. Then my wife watched his tv show Live from Daryl's House. I was just blown away by his vocals, even at his age, and the amount of soul he possess. Truly underated.

Absolutely.

Just a victim of the 80’s and the pop fluff that came out. Hall &Oates got lumped in with that. And his vocals got lost.

I don't see him as a victim of the 80s, at all. The first half of the decade was full of great music and that's when Hall and Oates were at their peak.

If any genre hurts the decade's rep, it's the hair bands like Poison and Winger.

Pop music was as good as it's ever been or ever will be in the decade of the 1980s. And in that time, no two men wrote more hits than Daryl Hall and John Oates.

"Nuff said.

+1000

I still say the "Private Eyes" album is one of the best pop albums cover to cover of the 80s.

Saw them in the 70s.

They were the back up to the back up band. Totally unknown at the time.

We had front row seats and they were fantastic. She's gone.....

Hall and Oats were competing with likes of AC/DC, Def Leopard, Van Halen, Metallica and other rising rock bands in the 80s. People's taste shifted but that didn't mean Hall and Oats were fading away.

I can never hear She's Gone enough. Both he and John do great work vocally on that one.
