When I was a kid listening to the Beatles, never understood the line “on the way the paper bag was on my knee”

Also until recently, I didn’t know what he meant by “you and me”, “lifting latches, on our way home” from “Two of Us”.

He’s talking about how as young boys are wont to do when walking home from somewhere, they randomly check car doors to potentially find an unlocked car and steal it’s contents.

I realized it because I was talking to a friend who’s a cop and he said kids roam neighborhoods at night “pulling car doors” as they refer to it as.

I really thought that the "Summer of 69" was about the year 1969.
Well what is it really about?

The Federales hanged Pancho and left him up for a while. The "kindness" is sarcasm.

I only know of

We only let him slip away
Out of kindness, I suppose

and

We only let him go so long
Out of kindness, I suppose

It's hard to see, but I'm still trying to figure out what the "Tiger Deauxnuts" were. It didn't have anything like donuts on it.

Tiger Deauxnuts and BBQ is the restaurant now. It has their smoked brisket on it.

When Adams appeared on The Early Show in 2008, he was asked about "Summer of '69" and its lyrical meaning. Adams said the song was about sex and making love in the summertime. "69" is a reference to the sexual position, 69.

Yeah why would Adams sing about the literal summer of 69 when that would have made him 9 years old?

More like summer of 79.

Those aren’t the words.

“They only let him slip away
Out of kindness I suppose”

are the lyrics.

As Tigris pointed out, those aren't the original lyrics.

You mean to tell me that KISS' "Love Gun" isn't about a .357 that cares?
