Confession time: name a pun and/or subtlety that originally went over your head...

Here's two for me:

1. The other day, I was listening to "Smokin'" by Boston, and after all these years, it dawned on me that the song length was 4:20.

2. I really feel dumb about this one, because the pun was/is plain as day...but while I always liked the album cover of Rush's 'Moving Pictures', it took years before I had that "duh" moment of "oh, I get it...they're literally moving pictures in the photo

I really thought that the "Summer of 69" was about the year 1969. I thought this for decades.

To me that seems like a big coincidence. It's not like the first use of 420 was popular by the time that song was released.

Album cover of Bowie's "Low" with his sideways pose was a pun for low profile.

420 wasn't as mainstream a term as it is now, true...but Tom Scholz was an MIT brainiac, so maybe he was just trying to amuse himself

I thought for the longest time the Ray Charles song, "Georgia On My Mind" was a reference to the state of Georgia. Even more confusing cause the state uses that as its unofficial motto.

After decades, Spinal Tap got me with another joke.

There is no umlaut for the letter “n”.

It sorta is. I mean if it's not, what are the other tasks really about?

I only know it was LIT's November 2018 pizza of the month and damn good:

It's hard to see, but I'm still trying to figure out what the "Tiger Deauxnuts" were. It didn't have anything like donuts on it.

Not only are the 'movers' moving pictures, but they are moving 'moving pictures'. Pictures of Joan of Arc at the stake, the Starman from 2112, and dogs playing poker. If you have the album and you flip to the back, you will see that it is all part of a movie set where they are filming a 'moving picture'.

Casey Jones by Grateful Dead

Driving that train, high on cocaine,
Casey Jones you better, watch your speed

It didn't occur to me till like last year that "speed" was a double entendre referring to both the speed of the train, and the fact that cocaine is a stimulant.

I felt really stupid when it dawned on me that it hadn't dawned on me like 20 years earlier.

The Federales hanged Pancho and left him up for a while. The "kindness" is sarcasm.
