Not many others as I tend to get pretty excited for shows

1994 went to see the Grifters at the old, little Howlin' Wolf...

They were co-headlining with this band that was just really starting to get a buzz about them... Guided by Voices..

Both bands were fricking awesome, but GBV was a surprise! I think I bought most of their back catalog at the merch table that night!

And of course, you may think you are prepared, but no one really is ready for their first RFTC show

KISS, 1999, Cajun Dome, Original Lineup

Was never much of a fan. Came of age after their '70s peak. I mildly liked a couple of tunes here or there from their '80s stuff but that was about it.

Had a bud I worked with that would buy me a ticket to concerts as long as I drove and he could get fricked up in the passenger seat. We went to a bunch of shows, AC/DC in Biloxi being another memorable one.

Anyway, he really wanted to go to KISS. I really didn't want to go, but I figured what the hell, it's just a short hop to Lafayette, and I actually wanted to see Ted Nugent, who opened the show.

I have to say, that show really changed my attitude towards KISS. They put on one hell of a presentation. I'd never really heard songs like 'Black Diamond', which I really dig now. I'd always been one of those snobs with my nose up in the air about KISS who dismissed them as basic cock rock at best. After that show I took a good look at their whole catalog and found one solid rock 'n roll song after the next.

Nowadays, other than my utter contempt for Gene Simmons, I have nothing against them at all. A large percentage of the artist I like the most were huge KISS fans when they were young, and I keep about a dozen or so of their songs on my phone. While a band like RUSH is one of my all time favs, not every good song has to have multiple time and key changes. Something simple and basic can still be awesome in it's own right if it's got some spirit behind it.

Same on both counts... Unfortunately, Laura isn't touring anymore with Superchunk, but you and your stache fear not, I saw them in September and they still rock hard!

about a decade or so ago, i attended one of warren haynes' annual x-mas jams in asheville. while the acts i wanted to see were solid enough (moe., bob weir, govt mule), all my buddies & i could talk about afterward was the shite-hot performance by robert randolph. before that night, what little i heard from him i thought was decent, but i wasn't motivated enough to seek out more....but damn, him & his band blew some heads off that night.

and of course, i could also mention the grateful dead & phish, but that would be too predictable

Led Zeppelin O2 Arena 2007

Being born in 75 I missed them in their prime. However while they aren't the most popular on this board, they are "it" for me. Have every bootleg made by them and after 20 years they are still basically what I listen to 50% of the time. When they announced the concert I had over 200 family and friends put in for tickets. Of course no one got drawn. My wife who still won't tell me how she got them surprised me at work with packed bags but wouldn't tell me where we were going. Went to the airport boarded a plane for London and saw them play. A major bucket list item for me, Page was great but not his old self, plant was great, Jones was great. It was an awesome night and one that I still have to pinch myself to make sure I was there for.
