Well that's just your opinion. I'm sure there are lots of people who enjoy it.

I don't think they really enjoy it. It's just what's on the radio, so, it's all they know. If Sturgill Simpson and John Moreland were getting a lot of mainstream radio time, they would be the big stars.

I never thought country music would get to that kind of a low point. Boy, was I wrong.

It's dropped from working class experiences and dealing with hard times to singing something about a truck, back road, jeans, beer, soldiers, America. It's a collection of buzzwords and is sadly effective.

When Kristofferson penned "Sunday Morning Coming Down" you could feel it. You know he experienced something. You don't get that anymore.

you've got it backwards, Simpson and Moreland aren't on the radio because they don't have broad appeal.

Some folks have refined tastes, but more have simple tastes. I know a guy who loves "bro" country, he also drinks bud light and puts A1 on his steaks. I've exposed him to a variety of country "alternatives", but nothing fires him up like a good pickup truck song.

Or, they don't have broad appeal because they're not on the radio. I know most people like things that are simple and easy like FGL or Blake Shelton, but there are a lot of people who just listen to whatever country radio plays and that's all they ever know. Some of those people would like good country if they ever heard it, they just never do.

One of my ex-girlfriends is like this. She's as redneck as redneck can be. She loves most country on the radio. Some of it is ok, but not much. I tried to introduce her to Elizabeth Cook, but she would have none of it. Surprising because "El Camino" and "Heroin Addict Sister" are GREAT country songs.

To each his/her own, I guess.

That was attributed to Ronny Dunn on Facebook, but still true.

Did anyone catch Bo Burnham on Parks & Rec a few weeks ago? He played a country version of Bieber but all his songs hit those patterns. One line would be about mom and the next would be support the troops.

Collin Raye hit the nail on the head. Nash-Vegas country is awful when compared to Texas-style country c

Come on dude? He's spot on and exactly right. Every redneck chick that likes "Enter Sandman" and hears it on the radio proclaims "OH MY GOD! I love this song! I love Metallica!" yet, play "Blackened" or "The Four Horseman" right after and you'll get a "What the frick is this? This sucks. Who is this band?" response. Well that's Metallica sweetheart so I guess youre not a fan afterall.
