Cheap Trick
I still have a guitar pick with the Cheap Trick logo caught from Rick Neilson after all these years

Love Cheap Trick. Saw them a lot back in the day.
I actually saw them perform twice during the same day.
Their first 5 albums are "tight".

For whatever reason they are my 13 year old daughter's favorite band. I nor my wife have ever really listened to them.

First concert I ever went to was Cheap Trick.
Same here along with The Cars, Eddie Money and Todd Rundgren and Utopia, What a day that was.

"Hello Wisconsin!" (Lead singer Robin Zander is from Wisconsin)
When I was in school at University of Wisconsin (early 80's) they played on campus a couple of times a year. The band originated in nearby Rockford, IL. The Violent Femmes were another popular band who always played on campus and were from Milwaukee. Loved them both.
EDIT: Some music trivia; Steve Miller (also from Rockford, IL) and Boz Scaggs were college roommates in Madison.

My first concert. They opened for Foreigner at The Summit in Houston in 1978

The only actual Cheap Trick album I ever owned back in the day was Busted. I bought it for the song "Whereever Would I Be?" It was cheesy af, but for some reason I liked it.

Bun E. Carlos
Always looked like somebody's dad that had to get behind the kit and get this show knocked out.
I thought it was gimmicky but he beat the frick out of em live. Early on they sounded much heavier live.

Probably a weak opinion. I know Danger Zone is the Top Gun icon. But Mighty Wings is a better rock song. The first dogfight vs Jester is pretty awesome with it pumping in the background.

Arguably, Bun E. Carlos was the best thing in the band. RIP

He ain't dead, just old. I wouldn't tour at 75 either.

He had some kind of back or wrist issue as well as a fallout with the band. I think he still “owns” part of it.

Love there music. I've seen them a few times live. Never lucky enough to catch a Kiss record though.

The two Cheap Trick songs on the Heavy Metal soundtrack are great.

Good to know Bun (Brad Carlson) ain't dead. Wikipedia says he had a fallout with the band over some back pay.
