One of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century.
The Stranger is an iconic album.
Puts on a hell of a concert too.

I have friends going to his show at Jerry World tonight. I’ve never understood the entire Billy Joel thing. It’s always baffled me.

Why wouldn’t he be popular? One of the best.

Yes, I love Billy Joel. He is a hilarious and candid guy not afraid to speak his mind about what he likes and dislikes about his music. His interviews on his XM station are great.

I go deep in the Billy Joel catalog. Like most artists his best stuff is outside the hits.

My favorite singer of all time and I still listen to his greatest hits albums fairly often.

I’d disagree depending on what you mean by hits.
Uptown Girl and songs like that are not his best but some of the hits are among the best.

Not sure about Joel but Elton John is like that. He has two greatest hits albums and you can argue that you could make a third one that is equal to or better than the official ones (especially II).

Sails
No Shoe Strings on Louise
Come Down in Time
Love Song
Amoreena
Tiny Dancer (how is this not on greatest hits)
Mellow
I've Seen That Movie Too
All the Girls Love Alice
Curtains
I Fell Like a Bullet

Same. My pops was a musician and my early memories are singing Billy Joel songs he played on the piano.

He's got some fantastic songs that aren't going to be on a greatest hits record.

Travelin' Prayer
Ain't No Crime
The Ballad of Billy the Kid
Worse Comes to Worst
Stop in Nevada
Somewhere Along the Line
Los Angelenos
The Great Suburban Showdown
Last of the Big Time Spenders
Summer, Highland Falls
Prelude/Angry Young Man
The Stranger
Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
Vienna
Zanzibar
Until the Night

Captain Jack was on a greatest hits album but always needs mentioning. Pretty much the song that launched his career. You're My Home and Miami 2017.

For those who have never seen Billy Joel's glorious melt down in the USSR back in 1987:
