There is NO doubt there. What the Beatles did back In 1962 was NOT a mirage. It was REAL and very GREAT for the time and they kept going until they got all drugged out and realized that it was time to go seperate ways.

I'll agree wholeheartedly with this one. I have the book of Robert Hunter lyrics, "Box of Rain" might be the title. That dude could write some damn good lyrics.
Also wrote for a plethora of other bands during that time period.
Garcia did well with Grisman too, when my son was born I went out and got "Not Just For Kids" which is them playing folk lullaby songs. Pretty cool stuff

Most of my faves mentioned but I would throw in Difford and Tilbrook. Pretty influential writers.
**Foster & Lloyd were pretty killer early Nash Alt-Country as well.

AGREED. I know. I am old school and PROUD of it. Todays music does NOTHING for me.I hear a few good songs, but I guess I am just stuck with I love the most.

I have two examples for you:
A Day in the Life - considered by many as the greatest song EVER written. They took Lennon lyrics from one unfinished song and took McCartney lyrics from another unfinished song and put them together.
In My Life - one of the most beautiful songs the Beatles ever recorded and even now, we don't know who wrote MOST of the song because Lennon-McCartney always had a disagreement over who wrote what in that song.

A GREAT GREAT SONG!!!! NOBODY has written a song like that from the TIME it was written. NOBODY. In my top 5 Of ALL TIME.

I prefer the Lennon lyrics though.....
Still one of if not the best songs ever written though
