All I know is Baton Rouge's music scene must suck because no one ever goes to singer/songwriter events on a random Wednesday night, which is entirely indicative of the music scene as a whole.

Another vote for Ryan Adams. Gillian Welch is one of my favorite artists, but when it comes to sheer volume and quantity, no one can touch Adams. Apparently that guy just shits out two or three great songs every morning after breakfast.

Jay Farrar was up there in the 90s, but he's faded... I would have said Ryan Adams 10 years ago, but I feel like he's dipped quite a bit.
