-Good call on the Steely Dan.
-Sandinista! is not full of filler.
-Give ém enough rope is BEFORE The Clash.
-No hipsterism or poseurism about people preferring The Kinks over the Beatles in the UK (well, every year less, as people age and pass on), but here, yeah maybe.
REM´s run is/was impressive (given that I went to the University of Georgia, I always thought maybe homerism got the best of me a bit).

I guess I need to go back to my Safe European Home..... 
ETA To be fair, both The Clash and Give ém Enough Rope were kind of mishmash compilations (they had isolated singles and EP´s prior to both).

The only "great" RHCP album is Blood Sugar Sex Magic . Their other ones have good stuff but are always littered with too much filter.
