Best Pantera album

I think Far Beyond Driven is by far their best work. That album just seemed to be the apex of their power groove sound. I liked trendkill a lot but it just didn't quite match the power groove on FBD. Reinventing the steel was shite to me.

I agree with the whole list. Reinventing the steel just seemed like they threw something together real fast just to put an album out.

My order
1. Vulgar
2. Far Beyond Driven
3. Reinventing the Steel
4. Cowboys
5. Trendkill
I think Vulgar is widely agreed to be their best album but my actual favorite to listen to in the last 10 years for me for some weird reason is Reinventing the Steel. Very underrated.

I like Vulgar but they managed to get even heavier and keep that signature groove with FBD.
I started listening to them again after about a 20 year hiatus because I got back into lifting weights lol.

Far Beyond Driven, great songs and the production is incredible.

1. Vulgar Display of Power
Everything else is heavy as hell.

Vulgar by a good distance for me.

Cowboys from Hell was Pantera making the transition from hair metal to heavy metal.
Vulgar Display of Power has the best collection of songs.
Far Beyond Driven has the best sound/production.
Great Southern Trendkill is the most brutal but doesn't have the hits that the first three albums had.
Reinventing the Steel is a poor man's version of Vulgar.
My favorite varies and it depends on the mood I'm in. Regardless, they are on the Mt. Rushmore of metal bands.

Vulgar is their best, and may be the best album ever. Period.
When I first bought it, I really only listened to a couple songs on it. I rediscovered it a few years ago and have listened to it far more than any other album since then. For around a year it was practically the ONLY album I listened to in my car.
I actually like their style a little better on Cowboys, during that transition phase. That one is easily second best for me.
Far Beyond Driven is third for me and is probably the heaviest music I can listen to and still enjoy.
Don’t really care for any of their other stuff, or haven’t listened to any of it enough to give it a chance.
Phil left my best friend’s band (the original Razor White) to join Pantera. Saw Phil sing with them when he was around 16 or 17.
ETA: Cowboys is still their best song and one of the greatest guitar riffs of all time.

VDOP tracks 1-6 are as strong as anything else in their catalog in my opinion.

Aside from Walk, songs 8-11 are actually my favorites on the album.
