And here's my all-time favorite, and it's a subtle one:
"Soul Kitchen" - Forrest Gump. That iconic Manzarek organ kicks in right when Forrest picks up his first ping pong paddle, which, in my opinion, brilliantly illustrates the dramatic irony of a guy with the mental vulnerabilities of Forrest in a time when, whereas Forrest was learning and mastering ping pong to the backdrop of 60's psychedelic music, his peers are shooting heroin, joining the black panthers, and protesting the Vietnam war. In any other contemporaneous story, "Soul Kitchen" plays over a narrator saying something like, "And then when I saw my older brother Jimmy's long hair and sideburns, I was introduced to a world of rebellion and freedom and excess..." whereas Forrest did as instructed and kept his eye on the ball. Maybe that book/movie shows us how far up our asses our heads were at the time, what with a retard being the greatest hero of the Vietnam war and all. I think it's hilarious.

I like Danny Elfman's scores, so I like the scene in the original Batman when he is driving back with Kim Basinger to the Bat Cave.




The closing theme in Jesus Christ Superstar but I assume you are excluding musicals. Otherwise, I would add "Make Em Laugh" from Singin' in the Rain (with the fantastic Donald O'Connor) and "I'm Getting Married in the Morning" from My Fair Lady.
