III

Either that, or Houses of the Holy. Physical Graffiti right there, but discounted for being two discs.

Houses of holy is damn near just as good, I like the albums where page wrote most of the songs

They're all really good...

Houses of the Holy is my favorite because it has No Quarter

III definitely holds up the best in 2016, but I think GOAT was Physical Graffiti.

This is true, but Presence and In Through the Out Door both had some god awful tracks mixed in with the great ones.

Houses of the Holy was when they were at their creative and expressive height, IMNSHO.
They dabbled slightly, but all was pretty damned amazing.
I´m no crazified No Quarter fan, but this is the favourite song of many. Many.
The Crunge hurts this album stateside, but it´s a big, big song with the limeys. I think it´s whimsical, for sure, and some say it´s their James Brown recognition, whatever. It doesn´t discredit this album.
The Song Remains The Same may be their best song. Truly.
The Rain Song is absolutely majestic.
Dyér Maker was a throw away, and is an amazing song, and again, the favourite song of many. Many.
The most solid album in my opinion, and I agree with the OP, III is also possibly their best.
There are so many nuances in Houses of the Holy, and also, it´s an album where there´s no doubt as to it being completely genuine and eliminates all creedence to the ripoff attack.
Plant´s voice is at it´s best, and Page does some nice amped work at an acoustic. Very nice.
Jones is solid as always, he really doesn´t have a peak, and I´d venture to say this is Bonham at his best.
This was the group´s apex.
Ah, and for a solid, driving, droning jam, you´ve got Dancing Days.
ETA The Ocean, JAM. Only in caps.
ETA2 Over the Hills and Far Away. JAM. Only in caps. Knew I´d forgotten something.

I was going to pick one of those just to be contrarian, but I see I'm about 20 minutes too late to bring them up.

I listened to Physical Graffiti straight through for the first time in a while the other day...phenomenal. Gets my vote.

Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Stairway, MMH, When The Levee Breaks......................the 4th is the GOAT.
All of which has been over played so much I don't want to hear them again, but when it first came out it was truly stunning.
