Great band, but do they really belong on a list of hair bands?

My favorites would be:
LA Guns
Skid Row
Ratt
Cinderella (I think they sort of straddle the line, someone above questioned they were a hair band)
Motley Crue

frick those dudes. They opened for Ratt at the Centroplex in the 80's and nobody was interested in their music so they cursed the entire venue. Mother fricked every person there to see the concert.

The sleaze bands were great:

Then you must love Dangerous Toys. They were underrated, probably because they clearly didn't take themselves too seriously. (track 6 on their debut album was titled Sport'n A Woody)

I’d agree Cinderella is more blues. Tom lives here in Nashville and is still doing some good stuff. I got to know him through an ex years ago and he’s just an awesome guy. It was always random/surreal seeing him at Logan’s Roadhouse.

Ratt is playing at the Hard Rock in Biloxi in May.

...a couple days after Judas Priest at the Beau Rivage.

Got my tickets for both yesterday.

Surprised no one has mentioned Stryper yet, one of the most talented, yet underrated bands of the 80’s hard rock era.

Personally, I am a huge fan of 80’s hard rock. I know it has its detractors, but in my opinion, the “hair band” era offered up some of the best rock n’roll songs ever. I’ll list my Top 10 all-time favorites below. Some of the bands listed may not be technically considered a “hair” band by some, but I label them as 80’s hard rock.

1. Dokken
2. Ratt
3. Stryper
4. Guns N Roses
5. Bon Jovi
6. Winger
7. Skid Row
8. 80’s era KISS
9. Cinderella
10. 80’s era Ozzy

I could buy the argument against Queensryche and GNR, but Motley Crue absolutely is a hair band.

I’ll agree with a lot of what’s been said already. Makes me reminisce about high school. Skid Row, Tesla, Motley Crue, Ratt, Cinderella, Def Leppard, etc.

Always thought Great White could’ve been more than a hair band if they would’ve tried harder to break the mold.

And although I didn’t get that deep into LA Guns...Ballad of Jayne is a great f’ing song and one of my favorites from the era.

Van Halen is a NO for me. They predate Hair Metal IMO.

It begins with Ratt and Motley Crue and goes from there.

I REALLY liked
Cinderella - very bluesy
White Lion
Great White - very bluesy
Def Leppard although they are as old as Van Halen but I think of them more as Hair Bandish.

there are MANY others, but I think the beginning is either Ratt/Crue and probably ends around Slaughter
