Sam Paulicelli (66Samus) has submitted his entry to the competition:

Hear Me (Devin Townsend)

If you hate blast beats, deal with it. Pay attention for the one-handed roll.....

Right? Pick 2 or 3, mix and match, there is no correct answer. Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy, John Bonham, Keith Moon, Buddy Rich, Hal Blaine, Vinnie Colaiuta, Terry Bozzio, Mike Mangini, The Rev, etc., etc.

But, if I had to choose one guy, right now, I pick Tomas Haake from Meshuggah.

without even reading I am going to guess half the posters said "Neil Peart".

Buddy Rich is definitely up there but I'd probably be more inclined to go with John Bonham or Billy Cobham.

sorry for the poor quality.

Not necessarily the "best drummers of all time" according to most of you, but my favorite drummers are:

John Bonham

Stewart Copeland (his reggae influences and hi-hat work make his playing unique)

Carter Beauford (anyone who talks shite on Carter does so because they don't like DMB; he's one of the most technically proficient drummers of all time)

Mick Fleetwood (most of his stuff isn't complex, but it's moving to me)

Buddy Rich, and all the other greats that will be mentioned in this thread would say the same if you asked them. Lol!

I wondered if he was going to make someone's list.
Hal Blaine.
George Grantham
Pick Withers
Buddy Rich

No order. No way to pick the best. Times. Genres. Kits used. Double bass and a wall of toms does not (necessarily) a great drummer make.

Was wondering if anybody was gonna mention Pick Withers.
I'm no expert on drummers, but I always liked the way he got the job done.

There's a live Sultans of Swing on YouTube where he is on fire and at one point the camera swings back to Mark and someone else and they are both watching what Pike just did and look at each other and laugh like WTF did you just see that! Classic.

Lists like this annoy me because everyone just rushes to name the oldest known person they can think of that played the instrument.

There’s a ton of better guitarists than Hendrix. Who will everyone on this board say is the best ever? Just because he’s from the 60s, everyone will rush to say Hendrix. Greatest album of all time? “Beatles white album”, “Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s”, etc etc
