Worst was the Eagles in Jerrys world 2018, I was 20 rows back from the stage and it sounded horrible.

My favorite concerts are the ones that I went to on a whim, or because someone invited me. Something unexpected. So in that vein:

Gwar, at Tipitinas, 1995. My metal head friend invited me, and I wasn't doing anything better. Senior in high school. Got drunk and made out with some metal chick while being shot with Gwar splooge from the Cuttlefish of Cthulu.

Squirrel Nut Zippers - Mid 90s, before their breakout hit "Hell" came out. I was with some people I didn't know that well, one of them says "Hey, I know a guy who can get us balcony seats at Tips for a concert. Wanna go?" We had a great time, and the Squirrels were a delightful band to watch live.

Vampire Weekend - 2010 at the Mahalia Jackson. I had never really heard their music, but the wife wanted to go with friends. The concert was great. But, this was the night of the LSU/Florida game, and I was a little pissed that I was missing it. So During the opening act, I snuck into the VIP lounge and watched it before the headliner. When the band started playing, I was watching the score on my phone. I must not have been the only one, because when LSU finally scored after that fake fieldgoal, the whole crowd went wild. The band look around like "what the frick.. they must really like this song."

Most disappointing concert I can think of is probably Helmet at Tipitina's for their Betty tour. The concert was surprisingly boring.

Ozzy. Hirsch Coliseum in 1982. Incredibly bad show. Everyone left midway thru. He was so f'ed up he hardly finished any songs. Sounded pathetic. Only show I have left before it was over.

Best - White Zombie '93 at International Ballroom in Atlanta. That place was nuts and the band was fantastic. Saw them not long after with Pantera and you could tell they couldn't stand each other.

Runner up - The Cure 2000 at Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta. Outdoors, sound and setlist was perfect. Just played three hours longform jamming on many of their hits.

Worst - Saw WASP headline a show after Motorhead had played. Almost the entire crowd left. Blackie Lawless was wearing assless chaps and humping an inflatable nun. It was pretty sad.

Worth mentioning U2 in 2017 at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara. They played Joshua Tree in its entirety and it still was lifeless. Bono spent a large portion of the show cueing up leftist short-films and bitching about Trump.

Cowboy Mouth was the worst.

I think they played “Jenny says” 20 minutes.

And the drum set looked like it was bought from Montgomery Ward catalog.

Black Sabbath -2017 Detroit
Worst- Megadeth in Cleveland yrs back ...they just went through the motions ..Pantera opened up for them and blew them off the stage ...It just when Pantera was skyrocketing to the top of the metal/thrash world ...Megadeth was real watered down .

I saw them at Tipitinas sometime in the 90's can't remember what year. Similar situation, a friend invited me to go. I've heard of them but didn't know much about them. What an eye opener. It was definitely entertaining. I remember someone sprayed pepper spray in the crowd during the concert.

Billy Joel New Orleans 2017

Wasn't this the concert where he opened with
"Angry Young Man" as the piano rose on to the stage from underneath, and upon being done, the older, heavier, balding, gray-haired artist said, "Hi, I'm Billy's Dad"?

I always found Peelander Z more entertaining than Gwar as far as over the top goof bands

Rammstein at the Cajun Dome was quite the visual attraction as well

Best - Summer of 1981. Baton Rouge. Jackson Five. This was their last tour before Michael went solo. We were standing on the first row right next to the stage.

Worst - I go to the Endymion Extravaganza every year and it is usually great. The worst was when they let Kevin Costner sing. People were leaving in droves.

Jackson Browne at Alabama Theater. Solo with just his guitar and piano. Great performance and beautiful venue.

I saw the same concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland. MMJ came on at like 6:30 PM which was very strange. They put on a good show along with Wilco but neither bad played very long since they were openers. Dylan came on and just basically sucked. Very surreal performance from a legend. We left halfway through his set when they shutdown the beer sales.

Peter Gabriel for the worst and it is not even close. Came out and did 2 hours of African tribal music. The only song everyone wanted to hear was Sledgehammer and he did not do it.

Worst, Linda Ronstadt, NewOrleans Worlds Fair, no idea what the songs were , she did whole show in Spanish.

Best- Stones 78

Worst- Steve Windwood 89
He wore a Janet Jackson like headset and was trying to actually dance around. I was embarrassed for him.

Paul Simon (best) - "Rythm of the Saints" tour - Cajun Dome (mid 90's).

Worst was at a House of Blues/NOLA concert in 2019 (Ellis Marsalis Jr.). It was just off the charts too loud! Everybody complains about HOB being too loud and they do nothing about it. I'll never go back there.
