Marshall Crenshaw... I know, I know, he received some airplay back in the 80s, but he was super talented and should have been much bigger.

King's X should be hugely popular.
Saw them at The Rusty Nail in BR circa 1990. Incredible.

Maybe too early to tell, especially with the pandemic, but:
Greta Van Fleet
Kaleo
Also: Jet. (We’ve had enough time on that one)

Two of my all-time favorites.
Balance & Composure was a few years too early too. Sad that one is done forever.

I saw The Sheepdogs open for Rival Sons on their last tour. Great band. And I’d add Rival Sons to the list

Utopia
I was a massive Todd Rundgren fan in the 70's and when he formed Utopia (the big 6-piece version) I loved that music as well. But he sort of lost me when he pared the band down to 4 members and went from progressive rock to more of a power pop sound. I still bought the records but the music just didn't grab me the way the early version did.
Both incarnations had a niche following and I never really thought they would become that popular. However, even though the fan base wasn't huge, they were pretty committed for the most part.
