Wilco.
I have tried numerous times and 3 albums--and it just doesn't get me.
...anyone want 3 Wilco CDs?

Nirvana - don't dislike them; just don't get all the hype. There were other bands in the law 80's early 90s that I consider more worthy of an iconic label. Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr come to mind.
I like Foo Fighters 1000x more than Nirvana

One for me: Bruce Hornsby and the Range-nothing wrong with them, and I get the appeal, but something I just can't get into.
Bruce's music is all over the place but in a good way. He plays Jazz, Bluegrass, Pop, and Folk and he is more concerned with telling stories than he is in forging top 40 hits. His music doesn't lend itself to the young dancing club folks. Bruce believes in growing his music and style in many different directions and not marketing his craft to one particular genre.

Sorry my favorite band isn't a cover band
What do you listen to when JRAD's not in town, the Cheewees and Bag O' Donuts?

Genisis. ( except Peter Gabriel solo I like)
Have you heard the Gabriel-era Genesis stuff? Way different (and way better, IMO) than the Phil Collins-era stuff.

I'm not trying to convince you to like Wilco, but I'm curious what 3 albums you listened to/bought? Because there is definitely a divide in the Wilco catalog for me where I kind of say, "post this point, their albums kind of suck."
For my money the Being there ---> A Ghost is Born are all extremely solid. After that, I get pretty "Meh."

From my post on the first page, ..."Wilco after Being There. Can't explain it."

That's interesting. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was a pretty important album in my life, though. Probably one of my top 20 albums (not necessarily saying best albums... but significant in my life). It sort of started my transition out of jamband tour rat.

REM - With a different singer I could maybe take them, but Stipe is fingernails on chalkboard
Pearl Jam - See REM
Doors - See Pearl Jam and REM

The voice of their lead singer is like nails on a chalk board and their distortion is way too fuzzy.

Most evocative track on there, for me, is "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart." Reminds me of lazy Sunday mornings when my wife and I moved to Colorado and were caretaking a historic house out there. We'd wake up hungover, toss that album on, and start cooking breakfast. Everytime I hear those opening notes, it immediately takes me back to that very specific time and place.
"Radio Cure's" movement from quiet and soft to the hopeful then desperate refrain that "Distance has a way of making love understandable" really works.
"Jesus Etc." is such a wistful, plaintive song as well that is a badass sing along in concert.
Really, though, the album works as a whole to me. There are a few oddly placed tracks that kind of pop me out of the moment ("Heavy Metal Drummer" probably be
ing the most guilty, though it's ironically also one of their most popular songs that actually got radio play). I really think it's just one of those albums that needs to be digested in whole to understand the entire thing. The whole is greater that the sum of its parts.

You've got a problem with Senses Fail, brah? Still Searching is a pretty badass album.
New Found Glory's not a bad band either, baw.
The Starting Line's "Best of Me" is still a guilty pleasure of mine.
