They have some wonderfully intricate music if you really give them a listen. And Berninger's lyrics cut right to the heart. I was off-put by his voice when I first listened to them years ago, but I've grown to really love them.

Trust me I gave Boxer a bunch of chances back in 07. Really tried to like it and just couldn't.

Beach house is all right but i doubt anyone here is jaded or indie enough to like that kindof shite.

Teen Dream is a great album. Outside of that, meh.

Grizzly bear is 20x better

They're better than probably any band that has been mentioned in this thread.

Agree with The National. Anyone remember Paul Shirley's column on espn? I blame him personally for me buying "The Boxer". Why did I listen to Paul Shirley?

I don't understand why they were the main cause of a whole socio-cultural explosion. I mean they're ok, but jeez, not like history-altering good.

THANK YOU....Cobain wasn't even a good guitarist and those vocals were terrible.

Timing more than anything. People were sick of the hair bands and desperately looking for something else, then Nirvana and Pearl Jam came along.

I don't get the hate for the hair bands. Sure, the makeup and hair might have been cheesy but there some damn good musicians in those hair bands.

Nevermind being considered one of the top albums of all time is just mind blowing to me

Exactly. I'll give em the first four tracks but after that it's the same thing over and over.

Alice In Chains(pretty much the worst rock music ever made)
