Artists on This Board: Do You Have an Alias?

I ask because I have about an album's worth of material ready to release, music videos in editing and storyboard phase and an entire social media campaign strategy, but I do no have a project name.
How important is that? I couldn't imagine releasing material using my real name. It's not interesting. Thoughts?

Same with Reginald Dwight. Change it. It worked for him.

By "alias" do you mean "band name"?

Your new alias is the last food you ate and the color of your underwear you have on. You’re welcome.

Branding is important but at the end of the day, if the music is good, who cares? Don't overthink it. Most band names came from random lines in books, phrases someone said off hand, or any number of random inspirations. Just imagine it on a banner behind you on stage or on a t shirt - if it works there, it's probably good.

Been holding on to "Centrifugal Upblast"* and its derivatives for years.
*It's a restaurant kitchen fan design. Now all I have to do is learn how to play guitar, sing and write music and I'll have it made.

Metabolic Kitchen. Vague reference to old student worker job at LSU.
Or else, per the above rules, Crawdad Blue.

And some change names (often more than once) before landing on the name that they break out under.
Lonestar was Texassee; Great White was Dante Fox; The Allman Brothers went through how many names before becoming ABB?

No way I'd use my own name here. I even use my pseudoname on my copywrites.

Or, you could just be a rapper. Musical ability optional.

I’m hoping we get a Pope Peter. If so, on stage I’ll simply be The Pope.
