Plenty of good talent overseas. The problem is our music in America has gone totally corporate. They play it safe, no innovation. No risks.

ONE thing left out is how streaming has destroyed the profit motive. You slave for years and finally produce that killer album, the hit song. You're not getting rich off that albums sales anymore as once was the case. You have to make your money touring and all too often, the labels force you to front many of the expenses and reimburse you later.

Take away profit motive and don't be surprised if there are fewer bands or musicians.

For what it’s worth she’s a pretty talented girl songwriter wise.

This is something of a myth. Yeah, she might help write her lyrics, but she has a whole platoon of songwriters who are likewise writing lyrics for her. Ever since she left the country genre behind and went to pop, her songs have increasingly become similar-sounding to other pop artists like Ava Maxx and Sabrina Carpenter. There is a reason for this: she uses the same songwriters.

I love watching reaction videos
They are fake if they claim they've never heard whatever it is they are listening to unless it's really obscure.

Jack Antonoff, for example.

Gone are the days when singers and bands had to start from scratch, pay their dues and hope to be discovered. Then, only the cream rose to the top. Go watch the Bon Jovi documentary and that’s how it used to be. Guys scraping by, honing their talents for years, just hoping for a shot.

This is true and why grunge was such a radical departure from previous music styles. Eddie Vedder was working in a gas station and Chris Cornell was couch surfing at his apartment in their early days. The music blew up into an organic cultural movement that couldn’t be controlled by the industry, which I don’t think will ever be allowed again.

did you ever go to a Hank Jr concert? He purposely would play every instrument during the concert to show off his talent.

The single greatest Super Bowl halftime show ever, and it’s not even close.

That was a football game at a Prince concert. Will not be topped, especially as long as they keep Jay Z in charge.

It's amazing how effortlessly you display you're a MOTHERFLUCKING moron on the music board.

You've made it crystal clear on any comments you have on LSU sports.

I bet if you ever had the chance to talk to your favorite artist or one of your favorites, they'd set you straight QUICKLY about how great Prince was musically and as a performer.

Hell, Corey Taylor said he BAWLED HIS EYES OUT when being informed of Prince's death. And I'm sure he was one of many fellow musicians that did.

Prince went into a studio ALONE (possibly with just an engineer) and produced the song of the year in 1984.

If TayTay did the same, she'd come out with her nails polished.

2025 was actually a pretty great year for new music.
People always say this and I used to just believe it. But...nah.
