I totally agree. Great band. Funeral was my favorite record of the 2000-2010 and was kind of my soundtrack for the entire pre and post Katrina era of my life.

I prefer the White Stripes and Strokes over Arcade Fire. I enjoy Funeral but outside of that album their music is pretty hit or miss for me.

The strokes fricking suck. One of the worst jazz fest sets ever along with vampire weekend this year.

Different strokes for different folks. I wouldn't imagine they would be great in a festival setting. I saw them in high school when they were doped up coming back from their mexico tour.

I like their studio work.

I saw then at the Howlin Wolf on the Is This It tour and they were great... I haven't listened to them in a long time, but I would think their sound would not translate well to a festival setting...

The strokes kick arse, love all of their albums except Come Down Machine.

Julian Casablancas is a major choch bag though. Might be the biggest of all time.

Yeah, they were kinda credited with bringing the whole NYC music scene back to life (which had long stagnated)... They reaked of the rich kid, scenester thing... However, I didn't let that interfere with enjoying that first record...

the strokes first record is one of the best rock and roll records in popular music to come out in the last 20 years.

While they were better than The Vines or The Hives (it seemed like they were always compared to those 2) I still didn't think they were all that great.

I watched a live concert of theirs the other day. It seemed like it would be something that was a lot of fun but probably won't make an effort to go back

Sounds exactly like vampire weekend. That rich kid ivy league music isnt for me.

If we are talking beatles of our generation, best band in the last 20 years, its radiohead. No one else comes close to their albums or live performance.

Thats the great thing about triumvirate. When one member steps out of line and says something outrageous like "arcade fire > everything in the last 15 years" , the other two members are there to check his arse. Order = restored.
